Not recognizing the importance of the English automotive industry could be a serious danger.

Accounting for 12%, the car manufacturing industry employs nearly a million people in the UK alone.

And exiting the European Union without a a deal with access to the single market could endanger those jobs, according to Jens Ladefoged. Asian car manufacturers want to move production into other European countries instead.

"The market is just better there," he said.

He claims that the UK will find it difficult to negotiate good trade deals outside of the European Union. Negotiating power is down to economy size, he says.

"Trade policies are a tough game. The EU has a strong negotiating power, but the UK does not," he said.
